Google Pixel users are in luck! Call recording feature now available
The Call Recording feature is now available on older Pixel phones in the Google Phone app. It will begin rolling out with the Pixel 6 series and will continue rolling out to the Pixel 7 and Pixel 8. With the update, users will also be able to auto-record calls from unknown numbers or select contacts.
Google has finally rolled out a feature Pixel users have been waiting for years. The company has started rolling out the Native Call Recording feature for its older Pixel smartphones.
According to the latest reports, this feature is being activated rapidly with the November Feature Drop and the new version of the Google Phone app.
All supported models, from the Pixel 6 to the Pixel 7 and Pixel 8, are expected to receive this update in the next few days. Google previously announced the feature in September, but its actual rollout has only begun now.
Pixel 6 also gets Call Recording feature
Google has begun broadly activating the Native Call Recording feature with its November Feature Drop. According to a report by 9to5Google, the feature is visible in version 198 and newer beta builds of the Google Phone app.
The company has already confirmed that Pixel 6 and newer models will support the feature. The Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 series already have the feature, so Pixel 7 and Pixel 8 users will also get access to it in a few days.
How will the new call recording feature work?
When call recording begins, the app will notify the person on the other end with a warning message or a beep. This is mandatory due to legal regulations in many countries and cannot be turned off.
After receiving the update, users will be able to turn on Call Recording by going to the Settings > Call Assist section of the Phone app.
Settings like auto-recording of unknown calls and recording of selected contacts will also be available here. A Record button will also appear on the screen during the call, which can be pressed to manually start the recording.
Many new AI features found in Pixel Feature Drop
Google also released the November 2025 Feature Drop this week, which includes several AI-powered upgrades. The new Remix tool in the Messages app can transform photos into different styles using the Nano Banana model.
AI Notification Summaries will now quickly display important message details. New Scam Alerts are designed to alert you to potential fraud within chat messages.
