In 2026, crores of mobile users will be hit doubly, these two big predictions have been made!

Two major predictions have been made for 2026, which indicate that the general public could face a double whammy of inflation next year. 

On one hand, mobile phone manufacturers could drastically increase the prices of smartphones, making purchasing a new mobile phone more expensive. 

On the other hand, telecom companies could also increase the burden on people's pockets, meaning even talking on the mobile phone could soon become more expensive. Overall, inflation could hit the general public hard and ruin their budgets.

Jio-Airtel-Vi Plans: Plans can be so expensive

Morgan Stanley, the world's leading brokerage firm, estimates that telecom companies could increase the prices of 4G and 5G plans by 16 to 20 percent between April and June 2026. 

The report also notes that companies are preparing customers for increased prices by discontinuing low-cost plans and limiting streaming services like OTT to premium plans.

If this happens, it will be the fourth major price increase in eight years. Increases of 15 percent were seen in 2024, 20 percent in 2021, and 30 percent in 2019. 

According to Morgan Stanley, each time, stronger companies have generated more revenue by raising prices, while weaker companies have been left behind.

Counterpoint expects that the average selling price of phones may increase by 6.9 percent in the next year 2026. Counterpoint analysts warned that the situation may worsen by 2026, the prices of memory chips are likely to increase by 40 percent in the first 6 months, which will increase the production cost of mobile phones.
