The government has amended labor laws. These changes ensure workers a minimum wage, appointment letters, equal pay for women, a one-year gratuity for fixed-term employees, double pay for overtime, and major benefits such as social and health security for 400 million workers.
The central government has implemented four new labor codes, replacing old labor laws. These include some key features that will directly impact the financial well-being of employees.
The government has first and foremost guaranteed timely minimum wages for all workers, and young people will also receive appointment letters.
Besides, women will get the guarantee of equal pay and respect and 40 crore workers will also get the guarantee of social security.
The government also announced that fixed-term employees will receive a guaranteed gratuity after one year, up from five years currently. Workers over the age of 40 will also receive free annual health checkups.
Additionally, the new labor code guarantees double pay for overtime. Workers in hazardous sectors will also receive 100% health security.
Rest, workers will get guarantee of social justice as per international standards.
