Is Home Guard job a government job or not?
More than 45,000 Home Guard positions are to be filled in Uttar Pradesh. A large number of candidates are wondering whether Home Guard positions are government-sponsored.
The answer to this question is generally unclear, but Home Guards are appointed by the state government, and their salaries and allowances are also provided by the government.

How to get work, how much salary is received
After being selected for the post of Home Guard, any candidate must perform work as required by the police. For example, a Home Guard is assigned work and receives a salary based on the number of days they are assigned. As part of their salary, they are also given an allowance.
In accordance with the Supreme Court's decision, on September 1, 2019, the salary allowance of Home Guards was increased to Rs 600 per day, in line with that of police personnel.
Dearness allowance is added to this allowance. Home Guards serving in other districts are additionally provided with Rs 30 per day. Similarly, pocket money and food allowance are provided during training. A one-time uniform allowance of Rs 3,000 is provided for every three years of service.
What are the rules for giving pension after retirement
According to the UP Home Guard Operations Manual 2015, a Home Guard's service is reviewed after three years of appointment, which can be extended.
Upon appointment, a Home Guard can serve until the age of 60. After that, they are considered retired. There is no departmental pension provision for Home Guards after retirement.
