Step-by-Step Butter Cookies Recipe
Cream the butter and sugar: Combine the softened butter and powdered sugar in a bowl. Beat with an electric whisk or by hand for 3-4 minutes, until the mixture is light and fluffy. This gives the cookies an airy texture.
Using the dry ingredients: Whisk the flour and cornflour thoroughly in a separate bowl. Add this mixture to the butter mixture and fold it in with a spatula. The dough should be soft and smooth. If the dough seems dry, add 1 tablespoon of milk.
Shaping butter cookies: You can make butter cookies in two easy ways. For bakery-style designs, place the dough in a piping bag and use a star nozzle. Then, choose a suitable size and spread it on a baking tray. With your other hand, form small balls and press them into place.
Bake the butter cookies: In a microwave/OTG, set the temperature to 160°C and time it for 12-15 minutes. In an air fryer, set the temperature to 150°C and time it for 10-12 minutes. Remove immediately when the edges begin to turn golden. Do not overbake, or the texture will become tough.
Cool the butter cookies on a wire rack. Soft and delicious when warm, they're crisp and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Store these cookies in an airtight glass container. They'll stay fresh for up to 20 days.
