Shubman Gill Concern: Team India captain Shubman Gill had to leave the field midway through the first innings of the Kolkata Test. He retired hurt. 

The incident of Shubman Gill retiring hurt occurred on the third ball of his innings. Gill managed to hit a boundary off South African spinner Harmer, but he then experienced neck discomfort. He was seen holding his neck, forcing him to leave the field midway.

After Shubman Gill experienced a neck problem, the team physio went to the field to examine him. After assessing Gill's condition, the physio decided to take him off the field. A video of Gill leaving the field shows the extent of his pain.

How serious is Shubman Gill's problem?

Shubman Gill was batting on 4 runs from 3 balls when he retired hurt . The extent of Gill's problem will only be known after his examination. 

He is currently under the supervision of the BCCI medical team. It is hoped that the problem is not too serious and he will be seen batting later in the match, which the Indian team needs.

Shubman Gill retired hurt when India were 79 in the Kolkata Test. Earlier, India had bundled out South Africa for 159 in the first innings.
