Garuda Purana: If these things are present at the time of death, the person does not suffer hell and attains salvation

Garuda Purana: The Garuda Purana is included among the 18 Mahapuranas. It is considered an important religious text. This Purana is based on a dialogue between Lord Vishnu, the protector of the universe, and the bird Garuda. 

The Garuda Purana describes life, death, sin, virtue, the soul's journey, and salvation. The Garuda Purana also states that a person should have certain specific items with him at the time of death.

Lord Vishnu, the protector of the universe, told the bird Garuda that if a person about to die possesses four sacred things, his soul completes the journey easily, peacefully, and without obstacles. Let's find out what these four things are.

basil

Tulsi is considered a symbol of purity. Tulsi is worshipped as a mother. Goddess Lakshmi resides in the Tulsi plant. It is said that a person nearing death should be laid to rest near a Tulsi plant. Furthermore, a Tulsi leaf or bud should be placed in the deceased's mouth. According to beliefs, a person who dies with a Tulsi leaf placed inside attains heaven.

Kusha seat

Kusha grass is very sacred. It symbolizes purity and stability. Actions performed while sitting on a Kusha seat are highly fruitful. It is believed that if a person nearing death is laid to rest on a Kusha seat, the deceased will attain heaven.

Ganga water

In Hinduism, Ganga water is considered equivalent to nectar. Ganga water must be poured into the mouth of the dying person at their last moments. According to the Garuda Purana, Ganga water purifies the soul.

At the final moments, sesame seeds should be donated by the dying person. These sesame seeds should be placed near the deceased. This lightens the burden of the soul and liberates it from sins. This makes the soul's journey peaceful and smooth.
